Lost in translation

The (delayed) 2024 annual Graves Jenkins (Crawley) Christmas trip took place last week with a 2-day team visit to Madrid in the glorious spring sunshine.

With Easy Jet surprisingly touching down ahead of schedule, and UBER’s new service the “white knuckle ride” delivering us frazzled to the city centre, we embarked upon a 36 hour gastronomic and cultural treat.

Despite its size, the best way to see this magnificent city is above ground. The shoes took a pounding, (highest daily step count 34,000), and the E-bike guided tour ensured the vast and beautiful Parque de El Retiro, coupled with many other historic sites, could be explored with ease.

Tapas never tasted so good. Our Spanish linguistic attempts raised eyebrows!

Normal service resumed on the return flight, but notwithstanding the tired limbs and lack of sleep, we agreed this was a fantastic city to return to.
